The Challenge: The Bullion Yard, designed by C.R. Cockerell in 1845, is a Grade I listed historic building. Any alteration required Listed Building Consent, while the 240m² space needed to accommodate 100 people and create an atmosphere suited to both morning coffee and evening events.
The Concept: The design was to preserve the building’s historic character through exposed brick, steel columns, and existing rooflights, while introducing warmth through timber, deep green upholstery, and brass, drawing material references from the Houses of Parliament. Booths, communal tables, a lounge and a private boardroom create a flexible space that adapts throughout the day.
The Result: Consent was granted, the project was delivered, and Building Control sign-off was achieved in 2026
