The Challenge: Tackling the impact of fast tourism in the pristine Sardinian town of Orani, surrounded by UNESCO Global Geopark mining sites.
The Concept: Create a design that pays homage to local sculptor Costantino Nivola, drawing deep inspiration from his artwork as well as the materiality and form of traditional local vernacular buildings.
The Result: The Sand Maquette is an intervention that respects local heritage while establishing a site-specific response to tourism and architectural tradition.
