The Challenge: Design a coffee shop at the base of Hverfjall volcano, incorporating a visitor centre and exhibition space that introduces visitors to the volcano’s geological history.
The Concept: A site-specific building shaped by the surrounding volcanic landscape, drawing on local geological formations, basalt textures and sustainable vernacular architecture.
The Result: A welcoming visitor hub that supports tourism while sensitively integrating with the landscape and celebrating Hverfjall’s unique geological heritage.
